On My Wishlist (7)

On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It lets me share which books I really want but haven't gotten a hold of yet. They can be old, new, or one that has yet to be released.

Here's what I want to get my hands on this week.....

 Numbers (Numbers #1)
by Rachel Ward

Whenever Jem meets someone new, no matter who, as soon as she looks into their eyes, a number pops into her head. That number is a date: the date they will die.

Burdened with such an awful awareness, Jem avoids relationships. Until she meets Spider, another outsider, and takes a chance. But while they’re waiting to ride the Eye Ferris
wheel, Jem notices that all the other tourists in line flash the same number. Today’s number. Today’s date. Terrorists are going to attack London. Jem’s world is about to explode!

Original Sin (Seven Deadly Sins #1)
by Allison Brennan

Haunted by chilling memories of demonic possession and murder, Moira O’Donnell has spent seven years hunting down her mother, Fiona, whose command of black magic has granted her unprecedented control of the underworld. Now Moira’s global search has led her to a small California town that’s about to become hell on earth.

Tormented by his own terrifying past and driven by powers he can’t explain, ex-seminarian Rafe Cooper joins Moira’s dangerous quest. But Fiona is one devilish step ahead. Hungry for greater power, eternal youth, and stunning beauty, the sorceress is unleashing upon the mortal world the living incarnations of the Seven Deadly Sins.

Together with a demonologist, a tough female sheriff, and a pair of star-crossed teenagers, Moira and Rafe are humanity’s last chance to snatch salvation from the howling jaws of damnation.

 Déjà Dead (Temperance Brennan #1)
by Kathy Reichs

Forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance Brennan has finally planned a weekend off to explore Montreal. But when an unidentified female corpse is discovered meticulously dismembered and stashed in garbage bags, her weekend plans--and her life--are turned upside down.

It's been a while.....

For the last few months I've been fighting with my computer. It has not been cooperating with me. It's been gone most of this month and half of last month. I was suffering major withdrawal. Haha.

Hopefully, it's nice and happy now. (I'm whispering loving words to it right now. Haha.)

So, I plan to resume doing some of the memes that I was doing before, and posting my reviews of books I read.

Hope you enjoy!

Only one book this week. I need to cut down on my spending for one thing. Also, I do have somewhat of a small stockpile of books that I've bought but haven't yet read. Add those to books I get from the library, and hopefully I should be able to not buy any books for a while. (Blasphemy, I know, but I really need to save money. This is going to be painful.....)

On My Wishlist (6)

On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It lets me share which books I really want but haven't gotten a hold of yet. They can be old, new, or one that has yet to be released.

Here's what I want to get my hands on this week.....

Arcane Circle (Persephone Alcmedi #4)
by Linda Robertson

Even magic can’t solve everything. . . .

After facing down the forces of Fairy in mortal combat, Persephone Alcmedi still must deal with the aftermath. Not only does Seph now possess deadly secrets she must hide from the arcane and mundane world alike, but the dozens of magical creatures who’ve taken up residence behind her cornfield need food and shelter, and there’s still her foster daughter Beverly’s tenth birthday party to plan.

And that’s not all. . . . Seph’s boyfriend Johnny has revealed himself as the wærewolf Domn Lup, and the ruler of the wære world is en route from Romania to make sure Johnny really is the “king” he claims to be. But Johnny’s hiding a dangerous secret: his magic is locked in his mysterious tattoos. He and Seph must find a way for him to reclaim it—fast—despite those who have no intention of letting Johnny gain his full powers. Seph knows that, in the arcane world, strength is always a necessity and power must be constantly proven, but how far is she willing to go to succeed . . . and at what cost?

A Bite to Remember (Argeneau #5)
by Lynsay Sands

Rule #1: Never get involved with someone who won't be there for you when the sun comes up.

Once bitten, twice shy, and sexy PI Jackie Morrisey wasn't going there again. Vincent Argeneau may be the hottest guy she's ever met, living or dead, but she's here to stop a killer from turning this vampire into dust, not to jump into bed with him.

Rule #2: Never kiss a vampire . . . it can be a pain in the neck.

Okay, so Vincent's had four hundred years to perfect his kissing skills, and he does look rather tempting when he runs around the house shirtless. He's also charming, protective . . . did we mention he can kiss? Jackie needs to be on her guard, or else she'll have to come up with a new rule: If you're going to fall in love with a vampire, make sure it's a bite to remember.

Lover Avenged (Black Dagger Brotherhood #7)
by J.R. Ward

J. R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood novels have introduced readers to a "different, creative, dark, violent, and flat-out amazing" (All About Romance)world. Now, as the vampire warriors defend their race against their slayers, one male's loyalty to the Brotherhood will be tested-and his dangerous mixed blood revealed...

Caldwell, New York, has long been the battleground for the vampires and their enemies, the Lessening Society. It's also where Rehvenge has staked out his turf as a drug lord and owner of a notorious night club that caters to the rich and heavily armed. His shadowy reputation is exactly why he's approached to kill Wrath, the Blind King and leader of the Brotherhood.

Rehvenge has always kept his distance from the Brotherhood-even though his sister is married to a member, for he harbors a deadly secret that could make him a huge liability in their war against the lessers. As plots within and outside of the Brotherhood threaten to reveal the truth about Rehvenge, he turns to the only source of light in his darkening world, Ehlena, a vampire untouched by the corruption that has its hold on him-and the only thing standing between him and eternal destruction.

Fatal Circle (Persephone Alcmedi #3) by Linda Robertson

Fatal Circle (Pershephone Alcmedi, #3)Fatal Circle by Linda Robertson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book picks right up where the last one left off. The fairies have declared war is the vampire Menessos is not turned over to them. They are bond to the Earth through him, and they seek to free themselves of that bond by killing him. (Technically that is the only way to severe the bond though, so don't feel soo bad about it.)

So, add fairies to the list of things that Seph has to deal with. Some of the other issues on that list have to do with the witches, wærewolves, and vampires.

Because of the threat from the fairies, Seph basically moves in with Menessos. So, I got learn more about Menessos and his vampire followers. Now that I have have more information about him, I've changed my opinion of him. I kind of like him. He's lived a long time. It's been hard on him.

Some of his followers that were introduced were pretty interesting too. Hope to see more of them in the next book.

More of Johnny's destiny is revealed. It will be interesting to see how he handles things, and if it changes him at all.

Both Seph's relationship with Johnny and her relationship with Menessos change and grow. Even the guys might learn to get along. Not holding my breath though, they are guys after all. Haha.

Of course at the end, the threat of war from the fairies culminates in a crazy, awesome, epic battle. That one little fire fairy is freakin' crazy. I can't even describe it. I probably spent half of it with my mouth hanging open.

The way that the book ended, I'm almost positive that the next book is gonna pick up mere hours from where this one ended. Lots of things were left hanging. I wish I had the next one, Arcane Circle (Persephone Alcmedi, #4), on hand so that I could dive right into it.

The Goddess Test (Goddess Test #1) by Aimee Carter

The Goddess Test (Goddess Test #1)The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

O M G! I loved this book! I love Greek mythology, so I was really excited to read this.

The book starts with Kate and her mom moving from NYC to a small town called Eden on the upper peninsula of Michigan. Kate's mom is dying, so she wants to go back to where she grew up before that happens.

Kate starts at a new school in Eden for her senior year. She makes friends with James and Ava.

Then, she meets Henry, and he does something impossible. He brings someone dead back to life. He asks Kate to stay with him at Eden Manor, and he'll keep her mother alive that long. While she's there, Kate will be given seven tests.

Turns out Henry is also known as Hades, god of the Underworld. He has been looking for a new 'Persephone' since the original one decided to move on. Ruling the Underworld is too big of a job for just Henry.

The other gods and goddesses have designed the seven tests to ensure that whoever passes them all will do a good job ruling by Henry's side. Every girl that has taken the tests before Kate has died. Kate is Henry's last chance before one of the other gods takes over his job.

Taking some tests doesn't sound too hard, right? Well, a big reason why the other girls have failed (died) is because someone was sabotaging them, sometimes even going so far as to murder them. Unfortunately for Kate, no one has figured out who is responsible for some of the girls' failures.

I loved Henry and Kate together. It was really sweet.

I can't wait for the next book, Goddess Interrupted. Unfortunately, I have to wait till it comes out next year. Definitely plan to pre-order it though. Yay!
